Objective:
I am seeking a position as Pastor in a church where I can use my gifts of leadership, teaching, administration, visioning, and pastoring to raise up a community of Christ centered people who are radically committed to knowing, loving, serving, and sharing the Lord Jesus Christ.
PROFESSIONAL MINISTRY EXPERIENCE:
Youth Pastor/Navigation Pastor
Ore Creek Community Church, Hartland, MI (April 2001- January, 2010)
Youth Pastor: I came on staff as the first youth pastor of this church plant in the farthest west suburbs of Detroit when the church was 2 years old. I recruited a wonderful team of volunteer leaders spanning 3 generations. I placed a strong emphasis on service trips: locally, regionally, and internationally; and God used this ministry to raise up numerous young people who are serving as or training to become missionaries. I emphasized small groups for our students, and built the weekly meetings around large group worship and teaching with small group discussion, sharing, and prayer. Ore Creek’s youth enjoyed time spent in service, worship, and fellowship, and grew to account for 40% of the church population. During this time, I also served as the leader of a large network of area youth pastors working together to provided retreats and events for the students in our area, including a 12 church, 500+ student winter retreat in 2007.
Navigation Pastor: In 2006, I began to take on more leadership responsibilities for the church, including frequent preaching and leading the elders in the reconstruction of our church’s vision, mission, strategy, programing, and structures. In 2008, the elders asked me to leave youth ministry to become Navigation Pastor, co-pastoring with our lead pastor and helping to navigate the church through some major transitions to implement our vision for the future. I led the process of hiring and training the next youth pastor to take my place, led the building and land team in our search and negotiation for a building, and led the finance team in the fund raising for a building.
Other Experiences: While at Ore Creek, I led youth and adult small groups, preached on a regular basis, organized youth and adult service projects and mission trips, recruited and trained sound and technical teams for the Sunday services, designed and maintained the church website, produced videos of retreats and mission trips, and recruited band members for both youth and adult worship teams.
Youth Pastor/Worship Leader
Washington Church, Toledo, OH (August, 1999 - November, 2000)
Youth Pastor: Provided overall vision, direction, and management for Jr. and Sr. High youth ministries. Recruited, trained, and supported adult volunteers to serve on a leadership team. Recruited, trained, and supported students to lead small groups of their peers and to function as evangelists and lay ministers to their friends. Designed numerous programs including Sunday schools, Bible studies, retreats, lock-ins, camps, service projects, and mission trips.
Worship Leader: Designed and led worship sections of the Sunday morning service. Led a band of 5 musicians and 5 vocalists. Introduced a new, more intimate and life changing style, atmosphere, and focus of worship. Introduced and incorporated 51 new songs. Led with guitar.
